General Function:


Under the direction of the Human Resource Department performs a variety of responsible professional, technical and analytical classification and compensation activities related to the maintenance of ARUP’s compensation system.  Works as a business partner in managing and administering compensation programs that support business objectives and rewards employees for performance.  Maintains and ensures consistent application of the organization’s compensation philosophy for all job classifications and/or other related activities while ensuring all compensation programs are competitive and legally compliant.

Reporting Function:            


This position reports to the Supervisor of Education and Human Services IS department but will work closely with the Director of Human Services.

Essential Functions:


The essential job duties of this position are:
1.      Reviews new positions in anticipation of recruitment to ensure appropriate classification.  Based on position-specific information, determines if an existing description can be used for classification.  As necessary, modifies and creates new descriptions which accurately reflect current roles, responsibilities and requirements.
2.      Responsible for ensuring that there are up-to-date and accurate job descriptions on file for every job and managing a job description database.
3.      Uses published surveys in additional to other established and approved data sets to obtain and analyze market pay rates.  Makes recommendations on appropriate pay grade level and FLSA status.  Reviews recommendations within ARUP for internal equity.  Prepares reports on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.
4.      Working within ARUP systems and procedures, ensures all aspects of job creation are addressed in a timely manner i.e. creation of job number, posting of new and revised job descriptions, etc.
5.      Researches situations as they arise related to aspects of compensation to provide clarity for resolution in consideration of historical practice, compensation philosophy and ARUP policy.
6.      Provides data input to annual salary surveys in which ARUP participates.
7.      Assists with administering ARUP’s annual adjustment and performance review process.
8.      Must have knowledge of:
·         Human Resources principles and best practices in compensation including job analysis/evaluation;
·         Applicable Federal, State, and local rules, regulations and/or statutes;
·         Research methods and data analysis techniques;
·         Employee relations principles and practices.
9.      Must have demonstrated skill in:
·         Conducting studies and preparing sound recommendations;
·         Analyzing and interpreting policies, practices and procedures;
·         Preparing written reports for varied audiences;
·         Maintaining confidentiality;
·         Conducting research, analyzing information and data and presenting findings in a concise format;
·         Addressing difficult situations in a constructive manner;
·         Utilizing computer technology used for communication, data gathering and reporting;
·         Negotiation and problem solving;
·         Building a rapport with employees and managers in conducting job reviews.
·         Strong customer service orientation and ability to produce results in a high performing environment.
10.  Must have excellent attention to detail.
11.  Ability to make decisions that have significant impact on the division of Human Services credibility, operations and services.
12.  Ability to compute, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data and/or to develop forecasts and computer models.

Other Functions:
This position may also be responsible for the following:
1.      Supporting the Family Health Clinic with data needs and ongoing analysis.
2.      Works closely with employees in the HSIS department to ensure all IT needs for the division are being met.
Requirements

Job Qualifications


Education/Credentials required:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other discipline directly related to the position.  Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.


Experience/skills required:

Two years as a Compensation Analyst in Human Resources is required.  Experience with Ultipro is a plus.
