Human Resources Intern with Cisco Systems (Raleigh, NC; San Jose, CA)


Description:
Come join Cisco’s innovative and leading-edge Human Resources function! This internship is the gateway into Cisco’s full-time HR STEP program—a two-year rotational experience where recent university graduates engage in multiple HR disciplines and help drive HR program implementation. The summer internship is comprised of two components. First, each intern is placed on a team within Cisco’s HR services delivery organization and receives accelerated training in one or two HR subject areas (e.g. compensation, staffing, etc.). Once trained, interns will respond to live phone and/or web inquiries from Cisco employees regarding their subject(s) of expertise. Second, interns contribute to global or regional HR initiatives by joining project teams designed to solve specific HR issues. Combined, these two components pack rich, real-world HR experience into each intern’s time at Cisco. Offers for full-time positions in the HR STEP program are determined by business need and intern performance/fit.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities and deliverables may vary depending on specific placement, but will likely include opportunities to:
  • Research and communicate detailed HR information and policy to inquiring Cisco employees
  • Assist managers and employees with HR transactions (e.g. management metrics/data, payroll changes, etc.)
  • Develop/edit written content for global HR “tier zero” knowledge management system
  • Assist in designing strategies, proposals, roadmaps and plans for HR-related projects
  • Plan and execute project deliverables to ensure timely and effective outcomes 
  • Consult, communicate, and manage expectations with management and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with broader HR community to ensure relevance and accuracy of project deliverables

This internship opportunity is open to all juniors with one academic year until graduation and a current minimum GPA of 3.0. The location of this internship will be at one of two Cisco Campus locations: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, or San Jose, California.

Targeted (but not exclusive) majors for this internship include Business Management/Administration, Communications, and Marketing.

Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for Cisco -- i.e., U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, permanent residents, temporary residents (that is, individuals who have gone through the legalization program) refugees and asylees.
