HR Internship with Nutraceutical (Ogden, UT)


Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, performs HR support in assigned business units which includes the coordination of recruitment efforts, new hire orientation, benefit enrollment, training and recognition, employee relations, FMLA, unemployment, and employment data. Essential Functions: . Coordinates requisition management, job postings, external advertising, internal posting and candidate recruiting for assigned open positions. Responsible for conducting screening interviews, selecting qualified job candidates and supporting the recruiting efforts for both exempt and non-exempt level positions. . Arranges and conducts new-hire orientations and benefit enrollments. Assists as directed in the development, presentation and evaluation of internal training and development programs for all managerial and non-managerial personnel. . Advises and supports management on all disciplinary infractions, terminations and/or below standard evaluations and other employee relations issues as needed. May also act as a witness on disciplinary infractions and terminations. . Responds to employee relations issues such as employee complaints and harassment allegations. Investigates policy violations, and with management guidance, administers the appropriate discipline. . Confers with VP of HR on all compliance issues, policy/procedure violations or unusual, non-standard matters. . Manages FMLA administration including documentation, notification, tracking, and follow-up. . Serves as the Company representative for all unemployment claims and participates in appeal hearings. . Collects, reviews, and verifies all new-hire and termination paperwork, as well as paperwork for employee status/information changes. . Arranges Company pre-employment drug screening for all safety sensitive positions and coordinates Random drug screening. . Under the supervision of VP of HR, assists with planning and coordinating Company-sponsored events for employees. . Maintains statistical data relative to recruitment and turnover, unemployment, employment action and workforce analysis. Compiles data from records and prepares reports; types and designs general correspondences and memos. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy. Additional Responsibilities: . May assist with or coordinate temporary staffing needs. . Maintenance of company bulletin boards compliance and communication. . May order flowers or send cards to employees for birthdays, births, condolences, etc. . Stay current on employment laws and practices by attending job related seminars and conferences. . Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities. . Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area. 

Job Requirements:
Working toward a Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a related field from a four-year college or university; studying for or interested in pursuing the PHR certification. . Knowledge of state and federal employment laws. . Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software. . Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. . Ability to read, analyze, and comply with, policy/procedures, governmental regulations and employment laws. Requires broad technical knowledge of the laws and regulations surrounding human resources with excellent human relations and people sensitive skills. General business management and communication skills. . Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines. . Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Physical Requirements: . While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. . Employee must exert up to 30 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. . Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
